Dear Campusfork Community,
Pissed off about a recent Yelp Lawsuit.
view SF Eater. I interviewed over 30 small business owners.
Yelp provides exposure for them, good or bad.
This also brings center stage free speech.
Short story: My father opened a Chinese American restaurant around the late 80s in Fisherman’s Wharf. (Think Panda Express) He had a great concept serving Chinese American food and Chinese food.
Rent ~ $6000 for corner location
As a nominal educated immigrant from Hong Kong, he lacked marketing skills. He probably though PR was (Produce Reciept)!
Back then, there was no Yelp, no Citysearch….. so he lacked exposure.
Small business owners should be more innovative.
I find that if Yelp does effect their business, great. This causes accountability.
In the economic climate, I want the best service, best food, damm it “I want to feel special.”
Reviews does just this.

Be!
Remarkable = something worth talking about
Take Ike’s. Btw, I went to Catholic grammar school with that guy. He has gotten great exposure. Take Ming, cool owner from Lime Tree!

Invisible man V. Superman
In San Francisco alone, there are over 5000 restaurants.
Restaurants are “invisible” especially good mom n pops.
Yelp makes even small hole in the wall “visible” turning them into “Superman.”

What I will do?
Okay dam it. I am from Hong Kong.
Sorry, don’t count me in on a protest in the foggy weather or chill breeze.
You won’t find me in a workshop cutting wood for signage.
No “Go Yelp” signs for me.
No marching.
No holding hands with Yelpers along a Market protest.
Me. I like to write, blurb, ….this is as far as I go.
Call me lazy, blame my Asian blood, but my weapon is my writing.
Take note:
I am not only for freedom of speech for Yelp but also for the internet community.
&$! I don’t want to be accountable and sued for my
-off beat humor
-dry humor
-honest “though love” reviews.

Let me know what you think!
